The Vice, Pinot Noir, 2017

Single Vineyard

Carneros, Napa Valley

Torie’s Batch #15

“Our quest will always be to craft the best single vineyard wines from Napa Valley. This batch is my wife’s reserve and was inspired by the Burgundian Grand Cru Pinot Noirs. Crafted with minimal interference; from fermentation to bottling, this unfiltered Pinot Noir is a gem in its current state with more reward if cellared”.     -Malek Amrani

Vineyard

Located north of Carneros, on the Napa Valley side, right on the foothills of Mount Veeder and Mayacamas mountains. Carneros is one of the first independent American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 1983, defined by its unique micro-climate than its political boundaries. Split between Napa and Sonoma, Carneros (Los Carneros) unique cool climate is mainly influenced by the cooling effect of the Pacific Ocean, San Pablo and San Francisco Bay.

2017 Vintage

A wild vintage! The year began with abundant rainfall following a historic five years of drought. A mild spring followed by a freak hail storm in June. Two heat waves during summer and a third intense one during Labor Day weekend that left us with no choice but to harvest. Through a Herculean effort in the vineyard and at the winery, we were able to pick the grapes at the optimal time and preserve the freshness and acidity of the vintage. The early harvest miraculously saved this vintage from the devastating wildfires that ravaged the region starting October 8th.

Tasting Notes

The sun-kissed nature of our Carneros vineyard yields sensuous aromatics from rose petal to a compote of red berries. On the palate, this Pinot Noir starts floral before spinning notes of radiant red fruit, chocolate, cherries and spice.

The eternal smooth finish of this wine suggest to decant it now and sharing it with friends; but if you can resist and cellar it, this wine will continue to beautifully illustrates Pinot Noir’s most immersive characteristics for years to come.
